Best Time to Visit Disney World

There is no single best month. It depends on whether you want cooler weather, smaller crowds or a particular seasonal event. Here is a month-by-month guide to Orlando weather, Disney's seasonal events and when the parks tend to be busy. Livin the Dream Retreat is about 15–20 minutes from Disney World, so you can head over early and come back to the private heated spa when the afternoon heat or rain sets in.

Cool, dry and usually one of the calmer stretches once New Year's week ends, though holiday weekends such as Martin Luther King Jr. Day bring a bump. EPCOT International Festival of the Arts starts in mid-January (January 15 – March 1, 2027).
  • February avg high 75°F · low 52°F · 2.0 in rain

  • July avg high 92°F · low 73°F · 7.5 in rain

  • August avg high 92°F · low 74°F · 7.7 in rain
Hot and stormy. Crowds often ease later in the month as US schools go back. Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party nights begin (August 7 – October 31, 2026) and EPCOT Food & Wine opens (August 27 – November 21, 2026).
  • September avg high 90°F · low 72°F · 6.4 in rain

  • November avg high 78°F · low 58°F · 1.8 in rain
Cooler and the driest month on average. Hurricane season ends November 30. Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party nights start (November 8 – December 22, 2026). Thanksgiving week is busy.

Weather

Hurricane season.

  • June 1 to November 30
The Atlantic hurricane season officially runs from June 1 to November 30. Most days are simply hot with afternoon thunderstorms, but it is worth watching the forecast from the National Hurricane Center and considering travel insurance for late-summer trips.
  • Afternoon storms
From June through September, Orlando's rain mostly arrives as short afternoon thunderstorms. Mornings are usually the best time for outdoor rides.

Tips

Beat the lines.

  • Avoid the big holiday weeks
Christmas to New Year's, spring break around Easter, Thanksgiving week and summer are traditionally the busiest times. Late August, September, and early December are often quieter.
  • Weekdays vs weekends
Many Florida residents visit on weekends, so mid-week days are often a little quieter, especially in the off-season.
  • Rope drop
Arriving before the park opens ("rope drop") lets you ride the most popular attractions while lines are short, before the midday heat. Check opening times on the official park calendar.
  • Take a midday break
At 15–20 minutes away, it's easy to come back to Terra Verde Resort for a swim or the spa, then go back to the parks for the evening.
